Kiruba Shankar explains 3G: What does it mean to us?

3G is the next generation of mobile communications systems. It enhances the services such as multimedia, high speed mobile broadband, internet access with the ability to view video footage on your mobile handset. With a 3G phone and access to the 3G network you can make video calls, watch live TV, access the high speed internet, receive emails and download music tracks, as well as the usual voice call and messaging services found on a mobile phone.”

Find out what more 3g can do for you from this article (dated June 03, 2010) written by one of the sought after public speakers and social media expert, Mr Kiruba Shankar, who has close to 60000 followers on twitter,

“If there is one term that is least understood but still continues to generate a lot of buzz, it has to be 3G. I’ll demystify this jargon and find out exactly what it is and how we can benefit from it. 3G will also unleash an amazing number of new gadgets that will redefine the way we look at entertainment, education and communication.

3G stands for third generation, a wireless technology that helps to simultaneously transfer voice (telephone calls) and data (broadband Internet). 3G is an evolution of the existing 2G technologies that has limited capabilities, both on the device side and on the network side. The mobile connectivity we currently use runs on 2G network and its plagued on two accounts. One is the limited network bandwidth which explains why our calls can’t go through because of network congestion. The second is extremely lean data bandwidth, which explains why surfing on the mobile phone or the GPRS data card is so pathetically slow.”

Read on to know the pros and cons of Amazon Kindle written by Kiruba Shankar  CEO of Business Blogging, a social media consultancy and can be reached at Kiruba@Kiruba.com

It’s been over three months that I’ve been living with an Amazon Kindle. For those of you contemplating investing in an Amazon Kindle, this review would come in mighty handy. Amazon was one who practically created a market for eBook readers when they launched Kindle, very successfully way back in 2007. The first model was clunky but the technology was path breaking. The success of Kindle spawned an entire generation of rival products. In keeping with competition, the Kindle2 is a far improved product.

The biggest advantage for ebooks like Kindle is that they use the E-Ink technology that closely mimics the printed paper. You are almost tempted to touch the screen and feel the roughness of the paper!

iPhone4-Kiruba Shankar’s review in Financial Express

If you are looking to buy the latest iPhone 4 in India through the official channels, you might have to wait until Diwali. An Airtel executive recently confirmed to Reuters that the company is planning to launch iPhone 4 in India but around the September or October timeframe. There’s no mention of price but it will obviously cost you more than a mid-range laptop.

But prior to owing your iphone you definitely need to know the nuance of it. Here is the complete review of iPhone 4 by Mr Kiruba Shankar, who’s spearheaded several key events such as Cerebrate, Proto.in, TEDxChennai, Facebook Developer Garage, Chennai:

According to Apple, iPhone 4 will be more powerful, easier to use and more indispensable than ever. iPhone 4 comes with a new design, screen, processor, and also a new operating system (OS).

Face time: Through iPhone 4, video calling will become much easier. The Retina display on iPhone 4 is the sharpest, most vibrant, highest-resolution phone screen ever, with four times the pixel count of previous iPhone models. This technology makes the text amazingly crisp and images stunningly sharp. No wonder, Steve Jobs joked in the keynote, “Once you go Retina Display, you can’t go back.” In iPhone 4, you can multitask by running your own apps and this will not affect the performance of other apps or drain batteries. Great news for people who are mad about video recording, one of the key features of the camera is the ability to shoot HD (720p) video.
