David Recordon speaking at FBDG Chennai
The participants got some very useful information about how Facebook works, the platform, the applications and more from David Recordon, Jonathan Gray and Kevin D’Souza, our main speakers from Facebook. A huge number of topics were raised and discussed at the Garage including how php6 can help developers, whether Facebook profiles can become open ID logins in future and the most interesting – Why can’t we use a mechanism like Adsense and monetize our fan pages?

Exciting discussions also followed the talk by Vasanth on Facebook applications, after which Florent Ferere from KRDS came up to present some analytical case studies of how Facebook has been used by various companies to reach out to customers and audiences. An interesting observation made during this talk: You can develop a Facebook app and interact with users for a whole month, for the cost of a 30sec spot on television!
We also had speakers Ramasubramanian and Syed Nazir telling us about how they convinced the Chennai Traffic Police to use Facebook to give out traffic updates, scheduled diversions, etc. Yes, FBDG Chennai did throw us a lot of surprises.
Videos of the various talks have been recorded by our team and will be online soon. Keep watching this space to relive the Garage!
