Facebook has launched what CEO Mark Zuckerberg is calling a “modern messaging system”.
Zuckerberg recalled talking to high schoolers recently and asking them how they communicate with one another. They don’t like email. “It’s too formal,” Zuckerberg noted. So about a year ago, Facebook set out to overhaul the system. But this isn’t just about email.
“This is not an email killer. This is a messaging experience that includes email as one part of it,” Zuckerberg said. It’s all about making communication simpler. “This is the way that the future should work,” he continued.

“Newsweek” Staffers Turn to Tumblr to Save Website
On Friday, Newsweek and The Daily Beast announced that the two publications — one a sober, 77-year-old print publication, the other a lighter, more entertainment-driven, 2-year-old online-only news site — would merge. Among the first reported casualties was Newsweek CEO Tom Ascheim.
In a followup article over the weekend, The New York Times reported another: Newsweek.com. The new chief executive of the joint company, former Daily Beast CEO Stephen Colvin, said, “Newsweek.com will cease to exist after the merger. Readers who type that URL into their browser will be redirected to TheDailyBeast.com, where Newsweek content will be housed.”

Toshiba to enter Android market with its own handsets
Toshiba has recently announced its latest Smartphone called REGZA T-01 C which is an impressive looking handset with wide array of features as well. This latest mobile phone measures 126 X 62 X 11.9mm in size with weight of 149g.
The 4 inches of TFT touchscreen in the handset is capable of providing resolution support of 480 X 854 pixels so as to offer bright and clear images. Toshiba REGZA T-01 C is powered by Android 2.1 OS and supports GSM and 3G HSPA communication standards.

Well the Royal Family seems to utilizing the social media to its hilt. It already has a presence on Twitter, Youtube and other social media platforms. Last night, The Royal Family joined th Facebook bandwagon. The page- www.facebook.com/TheBritishMonarchy has videos, photos and the Court Circular, the 200-year-old authoritative record of engagements.

The good thing is that, it a page and not a profile. So you cannot send ‘friend requests’ but can ‘like’ the page. In just a day after the page went live, it contains 148,149 fans!! much faster than any other brand!
